Nobel Prize in Literature is not a criteria for knowing the best authors. The award is gotten through lobby hence some authors who know their worth are denied the award because they refused to play ball.

James Joyce is regarded as one of the greatest English author. He was denied the Nobel Prize while some inferior authors of his time were given the award.

Japanese Haruki Murakami and Kenya Ngugi Thiongo we're denied the Nobel prize for not bowing to the western culture. That is one of the reasons, Chinua Achebe was also denied the award.
