Compliments of the season everyone. So I ed my driving test yesterday with 3 minors. I when I came here to complain some months back about my instructor (whom I did change) and driving in general.lol.
I had never driven before, had between 35- 40 hours and ed first time. I'm not a motivational speaker or anything but if I can drive and the test, Anybody can! My family still can't believe I ed. They couldn't even believe I was learning cos I can fear for Africa.

Have you ever driven in Nigeria ? If yes, you would have developed many bad habits ..........

Get an instructor for about 4 lessons, to sharpen you up ........

NB: You need to your theory test, prior to attempting your practical lesson ........

Same news everywhere now. People doing priority are even regretting it because they respond same day or next day with decision now. I did standard T2 renewal last month and got response within a week and half. BRP came a week after even before their email saying it’s been dispatched

Is this response specially for T2 applications (switch/extension)? I submitted application for PSW since 4 weeks ago and yet to get decision till now.

Though my dependents (kids) on separate application just submit theirs. I don’t want to believe that’s holding my own decision.

Always negotiate babes. They can’t withdraw the offer based on this, they’ll either say yes or no. You can also ask for extras if they are not part of the offer. Eg Stock, Dental, Annual Bonus. Again they’ll either say that it’s not an option and then give you their best offer. Here’s a sample email you can use, you can tweak as you wish. All the best!

I would suggest to go a bit lower first ( stoop to conquer) for example, if you were a bank manager in Nigeria you can apply for customer service role, Head of HR can start with HR Advisor etc...not quite strategic but it works. when you enter you can then aim straight for Director.

It's advisable to get an instructor for atleast 2 hours just to assess your driving before your test.

I was charged £35/hr. Some offer discounts on block bookings. Honestly, it wasn't easy but I made conscious effort not to think about the money been spent especially as a new driver. I just focused on learning.

If you need job(s) urgently to keep body n soul together b4 the big break via LinkedIn, Totaljobs etc come, visit the local recruitment agencies’ offices closest to you. Also, try IndeedFlex
Meanwhile, if the big breaks are what you urgently need, patience would be a necessary virtue for you to cultivate.

Are you a student or a dependant? Since you are in Sheffield, you can apply for this position (if you are a student), they are open to hiring students and the pay is decent. If you are a dependant , you can apply for the full time position on their site.

Re getting a job, there are other jobs outside menial and care jobs but it can sometimes take a while to get the kind of jobs that you desire but if making money is an immediate concern, try applying to a mix of jobs. Many people apply to care and/or menial jobs as a springboard to getting something better.
Use Linkedin, healthjobsUK.com, reed, cv library, google etc. to keep checking for something. You can also volunteer with organisations eg. NHS, charities, your local council etc. to gain experience in the areas of your dream roles.
