It is so sad to read this. I can’t say I know it feels, but I can only imagine how hurt you are by reading you post. So sorry.

1) You don’t communicate off Upwork until an offer has been made and accepted.

2) What is the nature of the job you did for the client. YouTube review? Posting on FB marketplace? What exactly?

3) You definitely broke the TOS in (1). You have to shed more light on (2). There might be a possibility that your client paid with someone’s card.

- Any client that wants to communicate with you off Upwork (Telegram especially) is most likely a scam. It is the same way yahoo boys are always quick to take their victims off FB to WhatsApp.

- No client is a fool. Always compare the work to the pay. Clients are more likely to underpay than overpay. If a client is offering $3000 for a basic work, be careful. $3k is not small money anywhere in the world.

The outside communication is a problem, plus the fact you also sent them trails of communication outside Upworks, that's a major issur. I communicate with clients outside Upworks, but we don't type it in the chat, we do it outside upwork message.

If you've been on Upwork for three years, I'm pretty baffled you didn't know outside communication from Upwork without a contract in progress is probably the no.1 violation of Upwork's TOS.

It's very strange that you were specifically asked to send chats from outside the platform, was there no communication on Upwork at all? Might have been why they got suspicious. I hope you get your back though.

I will wait and see what Upwork is trying to do with this recent W-8BEN update.

A Nigerian TIN may suffice or not. Or not, because we do not have a tax treaty with the United States.

I did, they deleted my post and banned the new I used in creating the topic, because when suspended, you can't post on their community.So, I created a new just to post my issue. But instead i got banned and blocked from using the new without anyone looking into my issue
