Gurus in the house, is it possible to add my younger brother who has been dependent on me and is less than 18 to my application? A friend of mine in Canada just told me this is possible and most of the research I’ve done online hasn’t yielded much. I’m asking on this particular thread, cos I believe most of the people here already live in Canada and will be able to have more information. Please guys I need answers. Thank you in advance

You can't add a sibling as a dependent to your application..

However you can sponsor him when you come (I assume you're coming as a PR), if your both parents are dead and he's still less than 18 at that time..

Hi.
Probably not an active thread but thought to ask my questions here to help someone I know who's in a fix.

My question is for a mum who has received study permit, coming With 2 kids of daycare age. Anyone on here with similar situation? How are you doing for childcare and how much is it, etc?

Asking because daycare is expensive and we are yet to figure out what this mum would qualify for in of aby deductions. We would like to know if there are any deductions possible (Alberta), or the existence of other childcare options when a mum is here alone with 2kids. Any ideas would help. Thanks

You should asking the agency in charge of daycare in Alberta as they would be the best to give you answers.

In Ontario, only PR and citizens qualify for day care subsidies (we were told that when we tried to apply) and the subsidy amount is income based.

So your friend should factor in daycare cost to her cost of living as they can get expensive. She could be able to claim it under childcare expenses credit (we did that for Ontario) while filing her taxes.

In summary, your friend should have money ready for daycare expenses or look for someone to watch the kids when she goes to school.

Please help clarify. CRA refunded all your daycare fees? And for how long?

They don’t refund; you only claim up to a certain amount towards your refund. That was granted by Ontario government.

So, check to see if Alberta has the same thing.

Make she sha hold money… daycare no cheap.

The website is clear enough on what you need to do.

Just follow the instructions stated there.

Please house I have a question.

Please is it too early or wrong to tell a spouse to get a job 2-3 weeks after landing in Canada?

this one na family issue not nairaland issue. Before you bring a man or woman abroad people should discuss all these things. The concept of huge monthly bills is alien to us in Nigeria. Rent is due on Tuesday cheesy

Well said, these are issues that should have been established prior to arrival and with all parties understanding the realities.

It is neither too early nor wrong! Canada is not a society where only one person can be the bread winner at least for the middle class and below. Unless there are physical or physiological challenges and not to forget culture shock amidst others, the person should be actively seeking a job!

To address some of the thoughts above, unless your situation is quite desperate which it would be unfortunate to describe, I would suggest you give your spouse some time. Say three months, that should be enough time to settle. Let the person socialize as much as possible, let the person get involved in going to the grocery, things that help realities settle in.

See problem.

It is not wrong at all. If the spouse has piles of cash to sustain the family then......... if not undecided
Papapa1234: 2:37pm On Oct 31, 2022
If you are asking based on long goals(PR, citizenship) it has no effect and one can get a job anytime.
If he or she is coming with kids, you must allow enough time to settle down.
If he or she is coming alone..they can get a job anytime based on family arrangements and agreement
Bottom line is one can start working anytime...

Please I want to confirm something my people.

I recently relocated from east Canada to west Canada.

Someone told me that the government refunds moving expenses. Is it true? would they refund the full cost or is there a maximum?

Are there other conditions for such reimbursements?

Did you move to resume a job or start a business? it's not like a reimbursement, it's an expense you can claim on your tax returns if you meet the criteria.

You can call CRA if in doubt on whether you qualify or not.

Thanks @ednut1 but what I meant to ask is if it'll be a problem if I don't travel with cash above 1000usd. Will I be asked about my POF in cash at the port of entry?

I think she is spending a lot more in ments than her colleague in the business - ba with sena. I had a session with Sena a while back to understand what exactly I was going to gain from the training but I wasn't really convinced of the value being promised for $2,500. Each time I see Eno's ads, I my conversation with Sena and just feel they both packaging. They even look alike!

I also had a free consultation with Sena, (@bawithsena) I did her course, and it ran for 6 weeks, I enjoyed the small class size, also hands-on knowledge and usage of BA tools with real-life work projects. I will say I got real value for my money because she also offered resume revamp sessions and held a mock interview with me. This helped me to land my first BA role. I won't have gotten this much from Coursera.
