Kenya is not Nigeria enemy. Kenya is Nigeria friend. We are not going to fight except online in friendly banter. Comparing kenya army with Nigeria army is an useless academic exercise. Our war scenarios doesnt envisage kenya ever fighting Nigeria. Yes Uganda, Tanzania, Somalia and our immediate neighberhoors...plus internally thugs and criminals. Those are folks we keep tab on. If Tanzania invest billions in defence - we have to match them. Your enemy is Boko Haram, Kidnappers, Fulani herdsmen, Islamist of various sheds, Yahoo boys and all criminals. Is your army and police more powerful than them? samorobo: |

Police - CIA/FBI - will catch them. Can Nigeria internal security catch thugs. Of course not. What is problem. Start with budget. Welfare. Equipment. Kenya police for example - get brand new car every year - it leased - they dont repair it - they dont fuel it - it come with fuel card - the police have no excuse not to respond. If the car even stutters - the car leasing company bring replacement immediately. Kenya police get life insurance cover. Army the same. They earn 3 times Nigeria. They life better - and they work better. Why isnt Nigeria doing this - it's spending gov money subsidizing fuel. Give this money to police. Nigeria security sector should have 10B dollars plus budget annually. GeneralDae: 1 Like |

Very aware. Our militia is totally nonexistent and you've pretty powerful ones. We spend about 3 billion dollars annually on security. You should be spending 4 times more. samorobo: 1 Like |

GeneralDae2:I for one do not want subsidy to go. Nigeria is a poor country, dirt poor and poorly managed like most other African countries. Remove subsidies and watch petrol pump price go up to around 400 naira per litre. Prices of goods will skyrocket and the economy will not be able to absorb the shock. Reduce it, fine. And make sure it's judiciously used. |

Kenya, TZ, Ug it's nearly 1.5-2 dollars almost. Price of goods - petrol affect the transport component - not manufacturing/raw material/labour/etc. What exactly will be affected by petrol outside transport of goods and maybe generator running in the backyward? And even within transport component - bad/poorly maintained roads/traffic jams - will chew more fuel/expense - than petrol pump prices. And mostly importantly you gov cannot afford subsidies - which is why you have fuel shortage everytime - leading to even bigger problems. obaaderemi: |

obaaderemi:Subsidy would have to go once the refineries come on board moreso because of the loopholes and corruption that almost always exist with fuel subsidies that cost the country a lot. Latest December 2023, NNPC would be having close to 200,000 bpd refinery from both Warri and PortHarcourt. We can afford to supply that at our own subsidised rate in naira and import the little left over (without subsidy) or take from Dangote where we have 20% stake. We can start to phase out subsidy bit by bit from the commencement of Dangote refinery. I love the fact that Buhari doesn't listen to IMF advice and has never cared about their advice that much even in 2016 when there was a recession. IMF advice to float or devalue the naira at this time, is another policy I disagree with and commend Buhari for ignoring. |

obaaderemi:If we play our cards right and assuming this fuel price remain constant, we could have something in the range of 250-300 naira. The naira would certainly appreciate by then if we increase our oil production to supply Dangote 300,000bpd and also meet an OPEC quota of 1.7million bpd. 2 Likes |
