Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode (1503065 Views)

TookDownYourMum:Funny and ridiculous in equal measures. I am not talking about the language but the architecture and the organization. Mombasa was founded and developed by the Arabs. We've done this in the past with the Kenyans. Point to one grand building in Mombasa and see wether it has an Arabic influence or not. Besides, the name of the language itself Swahili is Arabic and it's not 100% indigenous like you erroneously said. It's at least 40% Arabic not to talk of other foreign languages.

Arabic influence along the coast of east africa is similar to Arabic influence in hinterland of Nigeria - as seen in most of North Nigeria islamic culture, religion and name it. Kiswahili is bantu language with few loan words from Arabic. Swahili is 100% bantu language in grammar. It has maybe 10% loan words for vocabulary from Arabic. Maybe another 10% from Portugeuse. Another 10% from English. As we speak Kiswahili vocabulary of course expands - taking in new English words like computer. But grammar - is 100% african. A bantu in middle of Nigeria or Cameroon who has never heard of Kiswahili will understand kiswahili almost instantly. obaaderemi: 2 Likes |

GeneralDae2:This is one grouse I have with the opposers of subsidy. Subsidy has its usefulness. Now imagine how much fuel will sell for if subsidy is removed entirely in the Nigerian fuel marketing sector. Prices of everything else will go up. We keep comparing how much a litre of gasoline is in Nigeria with developed countries, forgetting that these countries have a way of paying their citizens all manners of social which is absent in Africa. So, let our government also do something in the way of social using fuel subsidy. At least for now. But I trust Ghana will bounce back. They've been here before and experience counts for something. ![]() |

rvp2018:100% in grammar. But over 50% borrowed words. Can you post any link that shows that only 10% of Swahili is loaned Arabic words? |

Is fuel life and death? Cant the money be used in other means - like providing security - which is life n death? Who will die if they buy fuel at market rate? Use that money to fund your army (with same budget as kenya almost) - and your police force - that is gov main reason for existence. Everything else is secondary. obaaderemi: 2 Likes |

Just40:dude you're hungry hence why you're posting marina mall receipts just to prove "you indeed shop at the mall". You collapsing govt has given you a token at the end of the month and as part of the propaganda project, you went shopping at the mall. Dude you spent less than I dash a colleague to complete his rent yesterday. Imagine this homoerectus showing receipts of 400 cedis on nairaland. Negro, you're hungry and proud. |
POKUASI2: 2:46pm On Nov 01, 2022 |
Just40:stupid.ity is when you spent 26 dollars at the mall and see the nerd to post it on nairaland so as to prove to whoever that cares to listen " Ghanaians arenot hungry". |

obaaderemi:No. You can't say Swahili has 50% loaned words.that's false. Swahili just like any other major international language has many borrowed words, but never 50%,it's estimated to be 10% or less. And those borrowed words words are what spice up the languages. It's even strange for someone to criticize Swahili for borrowing few words instead of criticizing English language for all those Latin and words.Or why are we not talking about the foreign names in our countries? Why are we not trying to change these colonial names? Lagos Nigeria Niger Cameroon Freetown Port Harcourt Gold coast Victoria island |

rvp2018: It doesn't matter how many percentage points of Bantu words are in Swahili as long as long we have more Bantu words which is much important and that is what makes Swahili a Bantu. Anyone who think is smarter, let him come up with his own African language to out class and outsmart Swahili. If no one can't out class Swahili, then people must swallow their pride and accept the truth |

Lol. Funny and ridiculous in equal measures. I am not talking about the language but the architecture and the organization. Mombasa was founded and developed by the Arabs. Except it wasn't. Arabs came to Mombasa as merchants to trade and later settle down, same as Indians, Chinese, Portugese, Persians etc which I previously stated you can see influence in Swahili architecture and centuries later Omani Empire colonized the place. We've done this in the past with the Kenyans. Point to one grand building in Mombasa and see wether it has an Arabic influence or not. Theres alittle something called "cross-medium exchange of ideas and motifs". Thats how architectual styles like Gothic was born in Europe taking ideas from Middle East and fusing them with European ones. Is this like a new concept to Zoogerians like yourself? Besides, the name of the language itself Swahili is Arabic and it's not 100% indigenous like you erroneously said. It's at least 40% Arabic not to talk of other foreign languages. Swahili, or Kiswahili, belongs to the larger Benue-Congo branch of the Niger-Congo language family dumbass. Languages are classified grammarically which Swahili is belonging to the Bantu family, not vocabulary which then Swahili only loans 15% ~ 20% of Arabic. Therefore, Swahili is 100% an indigenous language. Like I said, going by your logic, since Yoruba loans a great deal of English words, does that make Yoruba, English? Anyway, you have no credible response to my argument other than repeating the same gribbish like a broken record. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

rvp2018:There are other ways to finance our projects than the federal government's budget; examples include. 1. Nigeria Infrastructure Fund, (https://nsia.com.ng/nigeria-infrastructure-fund/) 2. Sukuk bond - 25 road projects across the six geo-political 3. Chinese-funded infrastructure projects in Nigeria however include the $874 million, 187km Abuja-Kaduna rail; the $1.2 billion, 312km Lagos-Ibadan expressway; the $1.1 billion Kano-Kaduna railway lines; and the $600 airport terminals in the major cities of Kano, Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt. 4. The private sectors (Dangote,MTN,BUA....) 5. Abacha loots 6. Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA). ..........................................................
