we are not. We cant fix the root cause. So we are always ready to mitigate the drought effects. Maybe we can slow down desertification but to stop drought is impossible. We run one africa most comprehensive social safety net - we send money to drought victims (if there is drought), orphans, disabled, old people - monthly - nigerian you cant even dream of it. https://www.socialprotection.or.ke/ obaaderemi:

KaziKazi - you gotta slow down childbirth. Tanzania's population has grown by 37.4% over the past decade, threatening to outstrip the country's ability to provide basic services to citizens ▶️ Males: 30,053,130 (49%) ▶️ Females : 31,687,990 (51%) Total population: 61,741,120 (2022) Previous census: 44,928,923 (2012) |

NEMA is equivalent to NATIONAL DISASTER RESPONSE of kenya. Show me social protection/safety net where you send money monthly to old, disabled, vulnerable, orphan, hungry people like kenya. That is why Tanzania have invaded our country with their disabled. Any disabled kenyan get paid monthly stipend; same with any old kenya over 70yrs; same with any orphan; obaaderemi: 1 Like |

rvp2018:we knew it even before the sensa. Our NBS has very qualified people who projected it to be 31,300,000 folks, the sensa exercise came up with a real figure of 61,741,120. So NBS were 98% correct.Sometimes I feel like we don't need to count people anymore 1 Like |

PROVERBZ:Parallel market may likely be scrapped next year. It's illegal and mostly based on speculations. Once the CBN can control the amount of cash circulating and Nigeria stops importing fuel, it would only make sense to make the bank rate/official rate open to all. |

Obaboon, Told you 50M is like change in Telcom sector https://www.businessdailyafrica.com/bd/markets/market-news/risky-borrowers-to-pay-higher-m-shwari-charges-in-new-model-4003036 The Kenya unit has seen a flurry of regulatory actions in the last three months, mainly on payment of licence fees, decoupling of the mobile money business and acquisition of additional 4G mobile spectrum. In May, Airtel Kenya paid the sector regulator Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) $5 million (Sh606 million) as part payment for its operating and spectrum licence running from 2015 to 2025. The initial payment was an outcome of an out-of-court settlement with the government following a protracted dispute over licence fee claims, where the telco agreed to pay $20 million (Sh2.4 billion) in four instalments over three years. The telco has also been paying for additional capacity in recent months, starting with a $10 million (Sh1.2 billion) payment in March for a network licence it will be allowed to use for 10 years to cater for the increased demand for its mobile data services. On July 25, Airtel Africa disclosed that its Kenyan unit had paid the CA $40 million (Sh4.8 billion) for a licence on additional fourth-generation (4G) Internet services in the country—60 MHz of additional spectrum in the 2600 MHz band. 1 Like |

kikuyu1: The bantu language most definitely diffused from eastern Nigeria/western Cameron, there is empirical evidence to it, all one can do is add more data to that factual theory. What you're focusing on is the genetic diffusion. & you're partly right, southern bantus have clear khoisan ixture, eastern bantus like the tutsis & kikuyu have nilo-cushitic ancestry, & central bantus have pygmy ancestry, & other communities have bantu ancestry as well. Take Obama as a base, he's undoubtedly American today but he can as well trace his roots to Eastern Africa but that's not all. Say someone digs his ancestry further & finds out he also has European ancestry, it'll be factual to say he's European but you can't omit his African ancestry just because you've found out he's also European, since humans are complex we all can't be placed in separate boxes & call it facts... We are all in the end mixed people. 1 Like |

theenchanter:I have no problem with it. The CBN have not redesigned the naira note since 2005. 80% of raw cash (money notes) in circulation are not controlled by the Banks. It would affect politicians looking to buy votes. The CBN along the line would be able to control demand driven inflation better especially when they increase rates. The timing (christmas and election) means in November, these guys who hold cash may either be forced to spend ( economy grows further), save in their banks (good for Banks) or convert to dollars (see my last point below). Most important of all, it is a bold step aimed at pushing more Nigerians into the cashless arena. We already have the most advanced payment infrastructure in Africa and one of the top six in the world. This is the time more people would be forced to adopt the cashless policy. There may be a price to pay within the first few months e.g politicians and the rest of those who stock up cash demanding the dollar more at the black market, etc but it would be short lived. 2 Likes |

GeneralDae:hmmmn..... If what makes the cbn not to be in control of 80% raw cash is not dealt with, I don't see how redeg the currency will change anything, maybe in the short term, yes, but in long term, I don't think so. Buhari did same in 84" or there about, nothing changed. But I'm optimistic, because of u sha. ![]() |

theenchanter:After the CFA, the naira is perhaps one of the most used and abused currency in West Africa. Naira is everywhere in those Francophone countries and much of it used illegally according to several economic experts whom I have listened to on this matter. Also we see the case of Ikoyi building with so much cash and other stuff like that. You are right, CBN must get their acts right this time and maybe they are giving themselves a second chance in that area after 17years. Buhari did same in 1984 and we suffered but we suffered because there were very little options left. Now we have Payment systems and CBN desperately wants the E naira to grow further as well. Optimistic because of me?? lol ![]() |
