masseratti:So Alpha Beta was more competent than KPMG,Deloitte,Ernst and Young,PWC and Akintola Williams, tell that to the marines. Bobo Chicago won't have given Alpha Beta the contracts during his tenure if he was'nt personally benefitting. His antecedents as a former drug baron doesnt help his case. 1 Like |

kaydutchboy:i never said they were more competent, if there are loop holes in the laws, lets fix it, point is giving alpha beta the job was not against the law, moreover alpha beta is not the only tax agency in lagos state, they might be the biggest but not the only one. |

masseratti:How was'nt it against the law when he has interest and collects 5% of tax generated went to his personal .There were many companies more qualified like Akintola Williams,KPMG,Deloitte,PWC or EY that should have won the contracts and they would have likely accepted a smaller commission. He would have been charged and sent to jail in any western country. It is against the civil service rules to award contracts to your personal comapany, what is so hard to understand. |
masseratti: 5:16pm On Jan 29, 2017 |
kaydutchboy:as at the time he gave out the contract he had no interest in alpha beta,i can give u some example of Nigerians that did same, okonjo iweala now sits on a board of a company she gave out the contract to negotiate debt forgiveness for Nigeria, that company made over $600 million, sanusi is now an emir of a city he gave 500million naira to when he was cbn governor, former German chancellor Schroeder now sit on the board of a Russian company his govt had a deal with, once you don't have interest in the firm as at the time you gave out the job its not criminal. |

Why does Tinubu aid APC expansion State by state? Once APC is in, he'll audit the state , I suspect. While some Governors were looking inwards and robbing their states, Tinubu has been busy aiding some African coutries during elections to help his candidate there win.....why? So that he'll audit s there too... Now his private jet has featured in the Gambian debacle, what better reason than to make business inroad into that country too. Tinubu is too intelligent for a lot of people to understand him. He hasn't been in political office for over 10yrs but he keeps getting richer and more powerful that his peers that their simple brains just process looting state funds. |

Is Tinubu the only politician/ex-governor with a private jet in Nigeria ? If no, then why single him out ? FYI, am no fan of his. |

No, candidly and I have not been able to come up with his ventures as at then. The thing is legal or illegal, they had covert ventures. The guys running TVC and Radio Continental today were the same guys that ran Radio Kudirat for him from far away Norway. Why did'nt you put up the same defence for Ibori,Alameishegha,Igbenideion and Saraki?Since these ones are only stealing and stealing, this is the reason you cannot trace ventures to them except shell businesses. The wealth won't multiply itself, it will fizzle out some day. The companies Awolowo corruptly started back then are still living till today. The gist is that we feed the Awo family each time we buy a bottle of Cocacola products. Was'nt Saraki a finance guy and smart as well, did'nt he have astute business skills.Saraki (Father and Son) are medical doctors, the best stint Olubukola had with finance was as an ED (Non-functional I bet you) with Societe General and that was straight from school kind of position. So in addition to having a private jet you are now telling us he has an Airline. I even omitted that part, but it is public knowledge he owns First Nation Airlines through his front Odukoya former MD of Bellview Airlines.Odukoya is running it for him, he is not a front. This is Tinubu's pattern with all his businesses, he puts a professional to run the business and doesn't interfere in management. |

Let's all accept that Tinubu is a smart thief. In fact, if 80% of our politicians were smart thieves like he is, the country will be marginally better than it is today. But that does not excuse the fact that Tinubu is corrupt. Tinubu has maintained a tight grip on the 5th largest economy in Africa (Lagos) for almost 20 years. It amounts to sheer stupi*.dity and igno.rance to say he has never had any corrupt dealing in government. It is just as a shrewd biz man and ex drug lord, he has mastered the art of cleaning his tracks, staying under the radar, and letting others do the dirty deals on his behalf. Aside Tinubu, only the Turaki (Atiku) and Saraki have their respective states in their grips for same number of years. You'll agree with me that none of these three people have any serious indictment against them. Tinubu and Saraki CCB cases are in sharp contrasts to the humongous corruption charges against most post-1999 governors in Nigeria. That said, we all know Tinubu, Atiku, and Saraki are very corrupt. If you can boldly come on this forum and say Tinubu is not corrupt, then swear on your mother's life that he is not corrupt! The question I'll like to pose however is this: Why are Yoruba's with their own crop of corrupt officials protecting Tinubu et al, and focusing their beam on corrupt officials from other regions? That's why anti-corruption in Nigeria is failing. You cannot protect Yoruba corruption and attack Ijaw or Fulani corruption. It is unfair. Even if you want to put the argument that it must start from somewhere, why must it not start with the Yorubas? Yorubas skipped the corruption of Shagari, Buhari (in his first 'missionary journey'), Babangida (the man that legalized corruption), Shonekan, Abacha (that is well documented), Abdulsalami, Obasanjo, Yar'Adua and took up GEJ as a case-study/scapegoat. My question is WHY? Babangida siphoned $12b from the gulf war oil windfall in 1991. Adjust that for inflation and that is worth at least $20b today. There is no Nigerian alive or dead that can say GEJ siphoned that kind of money in his 6 years in government. If you talk about corruption happening under GEJ, there is no government ever in the history of Nigeria that corruption did not happen in the civil service and by political appointees. If you'll hold GEJ responsible, you'll hold everyone from Azikiwe to Buhari for the respective gaffes in their istrations. But Yorubas (or should I say a section of Yorubas since only about 55% voted APC) stay in their cocoon and call Tinubu and OBJ heroes while Akpabio and GEJ are devils. You can see where the animosity is coming from? Tell me why a SSner would not protest the political trial of Patience Jonathan or Kwarans of Sarakis trial, when Yoruba people also protested when Tinubu was brought to book for the CCT trial back then. It should go on record that the Attorney-general said that case was improperly closed. If we must fight corruption. It must be as a united front. Since they can steal in unison, we must condemn in unison. But as long as you guys want to play a fast one on so-called unsophisticated people, you guys would keep failing. The same Tinubu that you guys like to call incorruptible can NEVER become the President even in a dream. Yet he is not corrupt. You people should continue. Just know you guys aren't dealing with f**.ls. -Lord |

BermudaTriangle: The question is why should we not single him out, since as a country that is what we know how to do best. Or was GEJ not singled out? Was PEJ not singled out? Was Tompolo not singled out? Was FFK not singled out? Was Dasuki not singled out? Was Ibori not singled out? Was Alams not singled out? Should I continue? When you point a finger at someone else, four are pointing backwards at you! -Lord |

Only in Nigeria because we are the most corrupt in the world.World Bank stated Nigerian leaders have looted $400 billion dollars since 1960,Tinubu contributed to this figure Why not spit it out that Tinubu actually stole the missing 400 billion dollars?. All politicians are thieves, but some are just too intelligent and too business savy. Your problem is not that Tinubu is a thief, your problem is Tinubu's political chessboars. It is called firi firi, meaning the more you look the less you see. |

7lives: The problem is not that Tinubu is a thief. The problem is that Tinubu is a thief claiming to be a saint and accusing his fellow thieves of being thieves. It is nauseating. Before 2015, no one had a problem with Tinubu's corruption. It was purely political affair. Perform and steal, and no one would care. Donald Duke, Tinubu, Akpabio, the Comrade governor in his first tenure to mention a few fell in this category. Even Fashola became the poster child of the work and chop movement. That all changed in 2015, when all of a sudden, confirmed thieves with history suddenly became saints because they formed or switched to a party called APC. And those who weren't in the party became the most corrupt politicians in the history of Nigeria, even when that cannot be proven to be true. That is where the problem started. Nobody had a problem with Tinubu since his NADECO days, no one had a problem with him keeping Lagos (the financial engine of Nigeria) in his grip for more than 16 years. It was all entertaining politics. Why do you think his political chessboard movements made him any more deserving of HATE in 2015? It is simply the unfair and below-the-belt run he spear-headed in 2015. Imagine a PDP ex-Speaker of State House of Assembly for 8 years, ex-Governor for 8 years in the third most economically advanced state in Nigeria, in less than 1 year becoming a stalwart and later the campaign manager of an anti-corruption campaign against PDP! Imagine the irony! How can you fight corruption with corruption? It is this dishonesty that is holding back whatever positivity this government would have emitted. If Tinubu had much input in this government by way of advice or direction, the country may not have sunk so low in the last 18 months. But he is not able to offer anything because he has been pushed aside with the threat that he'd be made the face of corruption if he revolts. The same APC lapdogs calling Tinubu's money legit today will call him the fourth most corrupt Nigerian alive if Tinubu pulls out of APC today. After all they did same to Saraki. How people as dishonest as these people can talk about anti-corruption with a straight face is bewildering. We have people who have benefited and are still benefiting from corruption using the word anti-corruption as a blanket term to classify corruption done by anyone other than themselves. And then anyone who tries to point out this discrepancy and anomaly is termed anything from corruption personified to a proponent of corruption to an enemy of the country to even a treasonable felon. This is a Nigeria that Tinubu help birth. I can't believe that we actually have a multi-page thread where adult educated human beings (not mentally deranged id**ts in vegetative state) are saying Tinubu is not corrupt. It is like saying the Devil and God are the same person. There was a time when we all agreed that all corruption was bad, whether it was PDP 'share the money' or ACN 'inflate the contract'. Now the only corruption that is bad is non-APC corruption. APC corruption is legitimate and acceptable. And these people go to church on Sundays and mosques on Fridays. And actually lie to themselves that they are doing what's best for the country. Tell me then what is the difference between Babangida's military rule and Buhari's/Tinubu's APC rule? Both governments have legitimized their own version of corruption. That as long as you are in Babangida's good books (during his military tenure) or in APC party (in the present government), you are not capable of engaging in corruption. That those who engage in corruption are only the people not in the government or party respectively. Little wonder that like in Babangida's time, the suffering now is unprecedented and corruption is institutionalized. Whether it is 5 exchange rates, secret recruitments, contract inflation with no ability, or money disappearing from NNPC. APC is a disaster. And Tinubu with his "firi firi" made sure of that. He did a fairly good job (even tho' it was laden with corruption) in Lagos State since 1999. In the national scene, his only legacy is CORRUPTION and INEPTITUDE. Or do you expect enlightened minds to blame Buhari? Everybody including Tinubu, el Rufai, Soyinka, even Amaechi have given accurate descriptions about the brain-dead cow in the past even when they were in opposing political camps. Buhari is performing as expected and predicted. That Tinubu had to institutionalize corruption to get his dilapidated aim of gaining foothold in the national scene is the biggest blow to his image and legacy. That is why a man that once held so much respect within the polity and across political divide can be demoted in a party he created from National Leader to state party stalwart (not even leader) and all his fuming did not turn the head of a hen talk more of a human being. I'm waiting to see his next move. If he will dare rein on the monster he created and how he'd be able to do that with corruption being his very foundation. Unlike Abacha, OBJ, Yaradua and GEJ, Buhari and his Ceberus cabal take no prisoners. All opposition are crushed not tolerated. -Lord |
