Hi Shannon70, my brother just finished from Stanford university and is currently on OPT. If I mention this to the consular officer, would it lead to denial ?

Some consular officers might think that OPT is a route to immigrating undecided

Congrats to your brother.

Yeah - you read the situation right. Of course even if that is a route to immigration - the standard is "present intent" - even if he immigrates eventually that was not his intent when he applied for the F1 - his intent was to go to school. I would mention it only if asked - of course it is on the DS160. Make it point of pride though if it comes up. It's an elite school.

Hello.

What's the probability of going for spring with a fall I-20 and getting visa approved?

My school is yet to issue me an updated spring I-20 which captures my graduate assistantship funding after making several calls and sending several emails.

My appointment is early next week. I probability of getting my I-20 before then is low.

Can I still go with my fall I-20 and explain the situation to the VO?

Thanks

Don’t do it. Your ission was for fall, if you don’t have a spring I20, it means you don’t have ission for spring semester. On what basis then do you think you should be issue a student visa without a valid ission? The VO won’t look at your face at all. Coupled with the fact that you’ve been denied before, this screams desperation and that isn’t a good look. Don’t ruin your chances of ever getting an F1.

I get you bro.

I have my ission letter for spring. It's just that it's only part of my GA funding that's reflecting. I have tried every possible means to the hiring officer of the department who gave me the assistantship but to no avail.

Is the I20 for spring? Most VO would ask for your I20 and not your ission letter.

You're very right.

My current I-20 is for fall. And it captures my GA funding.

I could still go ahead and request for a spring I-20 but it won't capture all my GA funding because the hiring officer is yet to effect those changes.

My reason for thinking this way is because I read a transcript where a lady went with her fall I-20 for spring but she told the VO that there was a delay in getting her spring I-20. She was subsequently issued a visa, but was told to submit her new I-20 and port when she's within 120 days of resumption.

You’ve attended the interview before so surely you know that the VO might not give you enough time to explain yourself.

I would recommend you get a spring I20, print the GA award letter or the email and explain it on your Ds160 and during the interview.

Alright, no problem.

I know the VOs work strictly with the I-20.

The VOs still won't look at any award letter presented to them. We all know they hardly read or ask for any document.

It's actually a dicey situation.

Fill it on your Ds160. When VO ask for form I20, ask if you can add the award.

Eg,

VO: can I have your form I20?

You. Hello, just the form I20 or both the form I20 and my RA award letter? (She dn hear say RA award dy even if she chooses not to see it)

or just add it. They might return it, but they have seen it. Alternatively, staple them together.

Guys pls do u know how possible it is to get a bachelor's program in a college or uni in USA which the tuition will cost around 10k to 12k$ after partial scholarship or without scholarship. My tuitions budget is 10000$
Total years should equal 10k$ or 10k$/year ?

If you mean Total years to equal 10k$, you need to look into other countries....

If you’ve done your research, you won’t be looking for an undergraduate law program.

Law in the US is a graduate program - there is no LLB here. Better to try the UK.

@Shannon70, Please I need your advice and insights.

Last yr, during my F1 visa interview, the VO asked me if I will be going with my wife, I told him NO, as my wife was schooling and doing her business. Hence, çannot abandon her sch to me. Now, she is almost rounding up.

She went for her F2 visa few days ago, and was told that her husband said, she won't be ing him, what has changed? And she gave an entirely off point answer, as she did not anticipate the question and I mistakenly did not prep on that point. She was telling the VO that her husband cannot visit at this time, cos of his demanding research work.

Now, we are about to reapply. Will stating that she has completed her program be appealing to them? Since, had already given an out of point answer initially.

Please, what do you think is the best way to go about this? Because I know that, that same question will arise again.

Thank you very much.

You should reapply. The same question will come up. Your wife should explain that you said she would not be visiting then because she was running a program. But now she has completed her program and she would like to visit you. Your wife may include what her next plan(s) is/are which we show her tie to Nigeria. For example, if she is planning to start a business or she is planning to get a job, she can mention it, and say that she wanted to visit you so as to return to Nigeria to continue her plans. I hope that helps. Good luck!

There’s no need. But you have to renew it before you attend your visa interview

Hello,
Please I need to know how to link my visa interview date (F2) to my husband's (F1). He already got a date for 7th but at the time of his application we had not decided to apply together. We have changed our minds now and applied but I can't link the appointment date to my application. I have booked a date for July next year.
I really don't know to proceed.
Thanks

The most important thing you'd need is an affidavit of sponsorship from your company explicitly stating why you are being sponsored and how sponsoring you will benefit them. Also, you need to get a bond drafted that you will work with them for Bleep years after studies. This bond will serve as ties to your home country.
