It's a normal process for the school to if you have the funds to finance your studies before issuing you the I-20.

the bolded is your issue

the last time I checked you are entitled to 28 or fewer working days of leave ( based on your level) in government establishments
or
study leave for the duration of your study as stated in your ission letter
or
maternity leave of 3 months and half-day closure for another 3 months.

I guess this must be you who is being advised here �

1. Staying with your husband for five years, no, that's a mistake.
2. Leaving your job for five years, not that you're going for studies. That's a red flag.
3. You didn't move with him while he was going.
4. GTA is just for your husband's upkeep. Saying you using that too for yours is some kind of confusing.

I will advise you follow the advice above, if actually it was you that was quoted.

I got itted into PhD programs with HND. There are several Unis that will accept HND into Msc direct. Some will ask for credential evaluation and you can use WES.

I’m not an expert o. But saying you’re staying with your Husband for 5years is a big red flag especially when you mentioned that your husband’s PhD is 6years!!! 6 kini ? Most department advise PhD students to finish their program between 4/5years after which they won’t the student again(please research this)


Finally your answer to who’s sponsoring your trip should have been something different. Maybe say you if you can afford it considering your salary. But your husband’s GTA covers only him and I’m not sure he can even save from it.

I believe the problem here is the length you want to stay in the US with 2kids on a very lean budget. It honestly doesn’t make sense to me.
