I got law at UNN with 281. Just try and smash your post Utme.

Law is one of the best course to study in Nigeria.. This is cox it has a high barrier to entry, there are so many things a lawyer can do that a non lawyer can't even attempt unless they wanna go to prison.

With law you can work anywhere you want be it a corporate law firm, banks, financial services, government ministry, local government etc.

Money dey this course wella

Just work hard and get a post Utme score above 300 ( I got 327)... Then graduate, go to law school.. Give yourself time to practice for 5-10yrs so u can learn the profession and watch the money flow.

No matter the economy a good lawyer can never be broke.

always do what you have ion for, so that you can accept the challenge that might come up on the way as being fun and what you're ready to take.

Mascom is losing its relevance. You don't have to study Mascom to be a journalist anymore. Technology is taking over jobs in that space.

Law is not also as lucrative as it appears in the past, but it's still prestigious.

You don't have to disrespect your parents while doing this. Make them understand in the most respectful way.

Op, law requires quite a lot oo! 5years programme with court attachment and law school...the expenses involved and the dedication that course demands besides without proper connections law graduates don't earn very well oo.

I'm guessing these considerations informed your parents decision...but to me I think it better to follow ones heart desires.

Follow your parents advice oo!! Because they know the situation of this country

I would rather say it the other way round. Don’t waste this brain studying Law. Go for Mass Communication now that the brain is still hot. Then, go back and study law later when it is getting calm. That is the best route.

Don’t be deceived, Mass Communication has better prospect than law. Even as a student, you can start working and earning, if you know what you are doing. Don’t be deceived by black suit and tie.

These are theories. See how you are speaking authoritatively on what you were told. From your post, it is obvious you are still a student, or probably, a fresh graduate. Never assert on what you have not experienced. Wait til you get into the labor market, and work for like 5 - 10 years before you can give this kind of advice

The approach I will suggest here is that you should make your research on how Law as a career choice is better than Mass. Communication, then you seek an audience with your parent and present your findings on why you feel law is a better career choice than Mass. Comm

If you are able to give them a stellar presentation on the perks of a Law degree, you should be able to convince them to allow you to study law. Alos, while doing that, you seek for their opinion why they feel Mass Comm will be a better choice.
