Majority of Nigerians are as foolish as the op, their smartphone happens to be their personal computer, which they use to access their bank s, cryptocurrency exchange, PayPal, Skrill and other ewallet.
Despite knowing that if their smartphone is stolen, or they are caught by authorized or unauthorized criminals, they will lose all their money, they will still carry their smartphone with them as they move around in public.
I am guilty of this. I have to heed to warnings. Thank you.

So on Thursday 3rd of march 2022, I came down from the Keke I had entered and realized my phone was missing, I quickly rushed back to the Keke to search but couldn't find my phon. I asked the driver who told me he didn't see it either and other engers had left.
So another Keke driver who was there assisted me with his phone to call my line, it rang without response @ first I taught I forgot it where I was coming from until I got home and called but was told it wasn't there then I realized I was either pick pocketed or the phone fell off from my pocket in the Keke.
I felt reluctant to call my bank to block my because I felt my sim was secured because I had the sim and phone lock activated. So to me there's no how my can be accessed using my sim because of the sim lock but I was wrong.
I was intending to go retrieve my line on Monday but on Sunday I decided to access my email using another phone only to find out my has been cleared without leaving a single dime.
I called Access bank customer service who confirmed my fears.....I asked them if I can have details of the the monies were transferred to they told me it's not traceable as the transaction was a cardless withdrawal using POS....I don't understand how possible it is for the transaction not to be traceable, how cardless transaction can be initiated without pin or otp,is it possible for sim lock to be byed ......I am still confused.
Please what could have happened in this case and how can I go about it?
These heartless people are getting smarter everyday. When my sister lost her phone some weeks back, the thief didn't switched off the phone immediately. He stole the phone on Saturday morning till Saturday night the phone number was still going until the thief finally discarded the sim that Saturday night. What I deduced from that unfortunate incident is that when a phone is stolen, they don't switch it off immediately unlike before because they know that people now their phone and sim cards. So they try as much as possible to wait for any incoming credit or debit alert in order to gain access into the owner's bank . The truth of the matter is nobody can unlock a sim card with code. Somebody said here that the thief might call customer care and asked for the puk, that's not possible because the phone stolen that was locked and the sim card locked, how will the thief knows the phone number? So an insider did this job probably where u were coming from. Now back to a locked phone, when we lock our phone with , security has two steps. The first step is that you will be able to read incoming messages while the phone is locked or you won't be able to read any messages at all, I guess maybe you used the first type of security. If you use the first type of security, the thief might access your incoming messages while the phone is in lock mode

I think that Access Bank security is so porous. I had a similar experience when I lost my wallet last November. I had a GTB, Firstbank and Access Bank atm cards in the wallet, I tried to block the cards on my mobile apps but my Access Bank was eventually hacked. I was told that my card was used to buy books online. I wonder while a fraudster will want to read book but I guess that was the only way he could by Access Bank security. In my opinion, POS & mobile code capabilities should be regulated as a matter of urgency. Alot of fraudulent transactions can be carried out on POS, and it looks so easy with the way it's rampant.
Sorry for your loss bro.
One trick I came up with is scratching off the CCV code at the back of all my ATM Cards, so I just memorised the one I use frequently.
Then we should try to distribute our money across our various bank s, make one of them the master where you are certain that your money is safe and don't get an ATM Card for it.

Pos has codes..... It can be traced, moreover if phone has security and your sim has sim lock, I do not believe someone byed the 2 without knowing any of the codes.
Also most times people unlock their phones inside keke or bus without knowing that the next enger actually saw the code u typed.
Everyone has to be careful inside a public bus or keke.

You made two mistakes and one of the two could have prevented your money from being stolen.
One: you could have called the customer care that day which you later did when you realised that your money was gone in your .
Two: you could have called your network provider immediately using another persons phone to block your line. That was what I did for my friend immediately he lost his phone. In fact, network was bad that day, they could not do it online, we had to go to their nearest office. And we went back to reopen the line that same day when the phone was returned by the person who found it after he initially refused to return it

Even a kids will know this story is fishy!
If your phone is lock and got stolen there is nothing the theft can do unless flash it and all data erase.
Even your credit alert test message to hid some digit of your number.
The only way your money can be dedot is through your ATM card once input your 16 digit, Security and date of expiry
This story is bullshit and the ediot op did something he ain't explaining

Secondly instead of calling your bank to block your , you intentionally gives this criminal all the time they want inthe whole wide world to try their trick and luckily they succeeded.?..u finally see what you were looking for
Thirdly they can't use cordless on ussd for access bank as have tried that severally with error message service not available for now...still not available till now
They somehow use your bank app...and I am guessing you are one of those who use dob or 7777 1111 as pin
If u also Lock the sim then we can conclude that transaction happened on ur locked phone....Guess it was unlock

I suspect their system is porus and they have decided to do nothing about it since they claim consumer is liable .
If CBN insists that thorough investigation must be carried out unless a fine of 350k will be imposed for every 10k fraud, you will see the way they will disclose the real identity of the scammers or properly fix their network

There is nothing fishy about the bank. You had a responsibility to block your line when your phone got stolen/compromised.
Encryption holds no water when an asset is compromised. The fraudster has a plethora of time to find a way out. You could have easily sent a mail to [email protected] to block your .
Apologies for your loss. May you recuperate in million fold.

the way you guys blame banks ehh. Nawao.
Someone misplaced his phone, the best he can do is to his bank to block the immediately. He left his phone phone with a fraudster for days thinking his sim lock will protect him. Your sim lock can only protect u as much time you give the fraudster, and how savvy the fraudster is. Immediately your sim or phone is misplaced, do well to get in touch with your bank to restrict transactions on your . You dint even blame network providers whose sim lock was byed, na bank you easily blame.

Is it possible that a new sms could be read from your locked screen?
