It's also worthy to point out that it is not only Igbos that suffered the abandoned property saga, alot of Ijaws lost their properties the state polytechnic in River state was owned by an Ijaw man it was seized from him because of his involvement in the war and till date no one has corrected this injustice. Besides the issue Ikemba has with the federal government over his Dads property, i can’t say i heard of any abandoned property issue in the Western Region! But looking at the whole picture, one could equally argue Awo and other leaders in the west wanted to give the impression of being ‘fair and just’ to Igbos....which all rings hollow when you consider Awo had just been responsible for the starvation of thousands....if not millions of Igbo, and had ed the Fulani hegemony to wage war on a people fighting against ethnic-cleansing and islamofascism! This was the same Awo that had earlier declared Nigeria ‘a mere geographical expression’ and equally declared that ‘if by omission or commission the East were ALLOWED to secede, that the Western Region would japa as well (and i’m paraphrasing here)’!

Ojukwu's father's property in Victoria Island was only returned back to him in 2005 or so after a supreme court judgement. Lagos state govt before the verdict were illegally in possession of the property. Truth is bitter but it must be said..
