She is not asking for child as the children are not in her custody. She is only asking to spend time with her very young children. In saner climes, custody will be shared between the parents, but in Nigeria where money is might, the richer parent can deny the poorer one any access to their children.

Mothers that lose their children to the foster system are either deemed to be unfit to care for children or they willingly give out their children for adoption.
