Good Morning great gurus,

Please am currently trying to get a car as am planning to start Bolt or Uber as a side hustle, by the special grace of God, but that's not why i created this thread.

I just want to know which is reliable, durable, that can withstand pressure (on the engine) in short better overall between the two cars, personally I have read alot of reviews here from you guys on the both ride, and I am considering getting the Civic, but my friends keep telling me Corolla is the best worldwide grin but then I reply them that the Honda is cheaper and even more beautiful, but they're not trusting the cheap price, some even mock me jokingly that na who no get money de tok say beer no sweet (what is it with the average Nigerian and Toyota sef undecided )

Truth be told, am a bit suspecting and having reservation's for the price of the Honda Civic

Frankly to be honest, am a novice when it comes to auto's

I just want a wider view on both and possibly the advantages one have over the other

Note the Honda is a manual transmission while the Corolla is auto

So I bring my case to the legends over here, what's your take?

Cost o parts replacement

Fuel economy

How rugged they are

How easy for mechanic to work on

Resale value
Thanks

I would say try out any of the cars first to get your first hand opinion.

Buy the car of your choice, use it for uber/bolt then you can know if the car you picked is good or not.

People should compare based on ;

1. Price of tokunbo car
2. Year of manufacture
3. Cost o parts replacement
4. Fuel economy
5. How rugged they are
6. How easy for mechanic to work on
7. Resale value
Etc

I own that particular Civic manual transmission, the car rugged die, the fuel consumption is very low, I average 110/120km per 10 litre, city driving with AC on. Parts are cheap and the AC na cold room. I have driven many toyota Corolla but I have not own one, so I don't know what their maintenance is like.

The Civic goes for 650k the Corolla is 1.4m

What do you think about the great difference between the prices? Is there something sinister about it?

for the record, you can't go wrong with any of the two. I like them equally but I feel you should go with the Corolla of you have a secure compound or stay in one. but for 2007 upwards, I'll choose the Honda

What's the point comparing a 17 year old Nigerian used car? Both will give you problems. So just prepare your mind.

Una go soon make this Civic make e cost...

Cos na so Toyota come cost to the point of being so over-priced because of how Nigerians prefer to collectively flock to any brand with "public endorsement."

Do you know the owner of the civic? Do you have a mechanic you can trust that can go check the car with you? How long has it been driven on the Nigerian road?

you can sell the corolla for same.1.4m after using for 2-3 years but the Honda civic I'm not sure... So corolla resale value gives him edge.

Thanks for the mention! !!

Go for the Honda Civic because it sures the corolla in many aspects.

Just that its resale value is not like that of the corolla.

airsaylongcome:
None. Honda in Nigeria are notorious for their faulty "legs" 2004 Corolla are notorious for being a ready target, a sitting duck, for thieves.

This is the mistake most Nigerians make.

All Hondas don't have the leg pull issue, and Honda civic doesn't pull legs. But, say, Honda accords from 2003 to 2008 had the issue that often happens due to poor maintenance of Nigerians plus our bad roads.

They fixed the issue in higher models of Honda accords.
