The main reason why you should opt for Glass top over stainless top cooker is that, while stainless top cooker rust and get stain easily. Glass top on the other hand does not get rust and if stained, you can easily clean the glass surface with water. Reason why glass top is more expensive than stainless.

Note that the burner is of two types (Also applicable to glass top). One is removable while the other is fixed. Always buy the one with removable burner. Because the fixed burner get rust easily and decay....the removable burner can be remove and clean/watch.

We were in the sitting room that day when we heard a sort of exploding sound in the kitchen. When we rushed there, the glass top had bursted and broken into tiny fragmented pieces. Nothing was being cooked at all and the kitchen was well ventilated. We were all shocked!

Stainless steel doesn't rust. It contains chromium oxide which gives it an anti-corrosive protection.

I'd not advise anyone to go for glass cookers as glass doesn't do well under heat. Glass is made of 2 layers, the outer and the inner layers. Matter in any state will expand when heated and glass is no exception, the problem with glass however is that when there's a rise or fall in temperature, the outer layer either expands or contracts faster than the inner layer. If the glass is thick enough, the heat will not penetrate to the inner layer thereby leaving the expansion and contraction to the outer layer. However, if the heat gets across to the inner layer and causes it to expand, when the temperature drops, the outer layer will contract faster than the inner layer. This will create what is called a thermal shock and cause the glass to break.

In other words, if you use a glass cooker for heavy cooking. It will most likely break after the cooking and temperature drops.
Glass cookers are not for heavy duty cooking and in my opinion, should be avoided.

And if your 'stainless steel' cooker rusts, then it's not stainless steel.
