For example, a guy in my area travelled to US in 2018 with visiting visa and he did not return

The address he filled in his application was their family house address

His younger brother recently got denied of an F1 visa. He used the same family house address in his application unknowingly. When they pulled up his profile, his brothers profile came up too. Since they both had same address.

The VO told him that his brother travelled on a visiting VISA which was valid for 6 months and didn’t return. The younger brother was shocked how they knew because he didn’t mention it in his application that he had a relative in USA.

The VO denied his F1 visa based on 2 things
-Withholding pertinent information from DS-160 application form. (not revealing he has a relative in USA)
-No strong ties (he might abscond like the brother)

If I would advise you, in the place of parent, fill in your uncle or something else

Think about this, what of orphans wey no get parents nko? What would dey fill in that place??

This is to let you know that, that field of parents on DS-160 form is totally irrelevant. And you can put anything there.

Your GRE and GPA is okay, don’t let your bro’s case jeopardize your study dream.

I honestly do not think the field of parents is totally irrelevant, except of course you aren't close to your parents. What happens if you want your parent to be present at your graduation? What happens if you probably get married or give birth and you want your parent to come visiting? Anyway, except you won't want your parent to come visiting under any circumstance then you should think twice about your decision.

My mum was denied visa to go see her daughter for what we call Omugwo in Igbo. I don't know how to place the reasons for her denial. I don't want to sound spiritual but this is the 3rd time she'd been denied. We've fasted and prayed, all to no avail.

My sister even saw her friend's mum who visited her daughter just for graduation purpose and there I have my mum with more conviction to get hers approved but denied 3 times.

As for the home ties, I have a sister here, mother, father, stepbrothers here in Nigeria.

Also since I am my mother's firstborn and her only son I plan to return to take over her business and improve it with the knowledge I have gotten. It is from the business that the school funding and family wealth came from. I really hope it is a good enough home tie.

If your Bank statement was not held, then you surely weren't denied because of a fake bank statement.

Let me explain this

Before the VO collects SOA from you they'll ask you that if found to be fake you'll be bam for 10years.

Had it been he was refused before the SOA was collected it will be normal 214b denial, now they collected his SOA, verified it and found it to be fake, they'll surely leave a remark on his profile as fake SOA....don't forget he was approved before and his denial came after his document was found to be fake.....

After approximately 2 hours. I went yo meet him.

I moved from the hall down to a room where my documents were through a scanner like that. Then we were directed to the hall. My port and fingerprints were scanned and I the queue to meet the VO.

The interview was fun all through, I didn't prepare for that though
