Please, I applied to Texas Tech University for a PhD program in Geoscience since December 2020. I received a mail from them this January saying my application has been transferred to the department but till now, I havent heard anything from them. Is there anyone experiencing this as well because I can see a lot of people here are talking about receiving i-20 from the same school or is it my department? Thank you.

I have a sister who is a US citizen and she resides in the same city as my school. Here's my question, is it better I fill her address as where I'll be staying or should I say I'll be staying on campus. Bearing in mind that her house is abt 20mins drive from the school.

Also, is it better I use her as my information or should I use my uncle who resides in another state?.

Ps: I fully disclosed that I have a sibling in US when filling my ds-160.

you should use your school location as where you will be staying. there is nothing bad using her as a information. I'm sure you just need to be prepared to explain to the VO the reason why you are going to the US. the other things are in the Lord's hands.

I've a friend that applied to geoscience in December and the grad cord told him that the first round of decision will go out by first week in February, he has gotten ission since 2nd week in February...please mail the department

But bro, I’m sure you’d need to explain more and more, because that’s too short. Like, you can also have that said international experience in another country which is not US, like Canada, UK and co.

After or before that your answer up there, why not add HOW USA IS THE HOME OF TECH, which is like the best bet for you. We’ve head1/4s of top tech companies (MicroSoft, Apple, Intel etc) there which might and definitely make intern and research easy for you unlike you schooling and offering the said course in any other country or your country.

Just try make research on that and use your own words to add up on your propose transcript.

It's very likely your application has been accepted but the default AWAITING APPLICATION will still be showing.

It's very common with schools that offer APP. FEE WAIVER , a friend experienced this kind of scenerio in a school in Canada a year ago, it showed submitted, and still brought out AWAITING APPLICATION FEE OF $95 CAD, the guy got a notification in his mail that he submitted an application and review have started immediately, two weeks later, he got the ission.

You should try as much as you can to distance your educational purpose from your sister. That way it can help establish your non-immigrant stance
