So like my DD.

But in her case, she wants to stand to do everything, eating, watching cartoon or just playing but she is not walking yet. She is 11m +. I dunno if its fear of walking independently because she holds the chair and walks round it, same with fridge, tv console and anything that she can pull herself up to.

It seems good. It doesnt clog or anything like that, thats why i like it.

I just keep wondering why they choose to call it 'My Boy', a bit upsetting really.

Happy New Year Ladies.

May it be a truly remarkable one for us all. May we and our family be kept away from the reach of wicked and unreasonable men in Jesus name. Amen

My sincere condolence to Beydew, May God reach you in ways only He can.

On an unrelated note, I onish us all to follow @Obis.Ora on IG. She basically propels women to be their best. ( A little disclaimer: I dont know this lady personally and have never had any dealings with her, i just learn stuff from her page)

Being a mummy can be overwhelming amongst all the other things we have to handle daily and its easy to forget the place of taking care of ourselves. Please be guided.

You are all doing awesome jobs being Mummys, May God continue to give us wisdom.

My sister, am so with you on being Ijebu! When you become a parent with newly defined responsibilities, it becomes necessary o.

I hope we decide within a few days and I can plan accordingly. I just can't shake off how happy my Dad will be to have us there (esp with the baby)... that only complicates the decision for me.

Giddyperson:

Usually crazy expensive travelling around that period.
For 220k, I'd just cancel the trip and pay him a 2 day visit in January cheesy But I'm Ijebu so cheesy cheesy

Many times babies just cry all tru the duration of a flight, I'd imagine that the crying gets the parent tense, and when the parent is tense, the baby can't calm down. 7 hours just have been hell.

Thank you for your response.

Am only staying for a few days between 22nd and 26th. Considering road trip because of the airport drama this season and also, the trip from airport to my village is about 2hrs plus. We are also about 6 in total - cost saving, even though its about 220k for a Hiace bus (to and fro).

DD was about 5weeks old when we first travelled. I will never understand her reason for crying for about 7hrs of the total of 9hr trip. It still haunts me. Time had never been so slow, almost told the pilot to park lol

Giddyperson:

Travelled with GB last Christmas for my mum's thanksgiving. She was 7 months old then, we stayed 2 weeks and enjoyed ourselves. If it's going to be a road trip, better to leave her behind.

If you're taking her, it's really no big deal.
Pack a winter jacket Or a really thick jacket for harmattan.
Treat her for malaria just before you leave or pack antimalarial medicine and antibiotics .
Don't get carried away by village life, sterilize as much as you normally would and prepare all her meals yourself.
Make it clear that no one feeds her anything at all, especially the other kids.
Keep her indoors as much as possible, esp mornings and evenings.
Use mosquito nets or insecticide every night.

Thank you so much for drawing attention to this. It is very very very vital.

I might be going to my Village impromptu for a few days. I haven't been there since my traditional wedding.

Majorly considering leaving my 9months old with my mom or mother in law, am more comfortable leaving her than putting her through the drama for flight or road trip ( she has self-weaned and she eats everything with no hassle)

Only that, its our first Christmas together and we will be apart... I dont even know how to feel about all this.

One part is saying skip the trip, another is reminding me of how much it will mean to my Dad to honor him by visiting and attending his planned family thanksgiving on Christmas day. My hubby is leaving the decision totally to me.

Dear Mothers,
Please let's talk...
Its barely 1 months to Christmas and some of us have plans of going to village...that is our/ there husband's places and may be to your place too ....
While we prepare,i want you to have this in mind...
While buying them clothes with shine shine and blink blink & colourful designs, please, rem to buy them nice cardigans,Rem to get them full cover sleeping wears and stockings, rem to buy a net or flit or even shelltoss ighotaanu ife meanii..a mosquito repellent if possible, village mosquitoes need fresh blood oo...
Rem there will be a change of weather so plan for that please,
Rem there cups, bottles & feeders, help them manage there intake properly atleast to some extent....

THEN WHILE YOU BUY ALL THIS,WHILE PACKING YOUR BIG BIBLE,HOLY WATER,OIL & HANKY WITH PIN UO & STICKER,
PLEASE MOST IMPORTANTLY REMEMEBER SOME VITAL DRUGS,
Paracetamol maka fever and over activity,
VitaminC..
Some pain relievers maka ndi ya ada ada...
Some cough and cattarh drugs....
A thermometer incase our palms fails us...
And other things.....

YOU KNOW WHY I AM KIND ABOUT THIS
This is to enable you you manage your child proper so that you will not come & accuse village people, this time they are innocent..
Stories like, darling it was after that man with white bear bear carried baby that he/she started vomiting,
Then for those that has been suspecting there mother inlaws and sister inlaws to be witches,it wil now be easier to prove your point..you will now say that mama took her/him inside the room only to bring her out with very highhhhh temparature..
It was Dee Ekeonu or Maazi Obi that did this or did that....
Then for those that will come here on facebook and force us to pray with captions like,Please Pray For my baby oo,we visited my husband's village and this is what i got ooo...

ONE MORE...
Please prepare your daughters well,No uncle should carry you oo,if he tells you to come, tell him NO...

So please,While you are conscious of how gorgeous and glamorous you will appear, while keeping up with schedules and events...KEEP UP WITH YOUR BABY 100%

GOD BLESS US...

Thank you so much. All noted

Giddyperson:

At 8 months, she can eat whatever you eat at home. Plantain porridge, Rice, beans, garri, blended pasta, (i like to blend the dry pasta before i cook) just put little or no pepper in her own meals and no bones.

As for sleeping at night, since she's been waened, try to start training her to sleep through the night. My method was to feed her as late as possible before she sleeps. (9-10pm) then not pick her up at night. If she wakes up I just tap her back until she sleeps back. If she's not sleeping back, I'd give water and keep tapping cheesy. Also make sure she's not too hot or too cold at night else she'd keep waking up. Didn't work for a long time cuz her dad would always pick her up and sing and feed and spoil her, but since we travelled and no daddy here, I've showed her who is boss cheesy She still wakes up eat every once in a while, and I feed her, esp if her last meal was before 7pm. I guess you would never stop totally waking up at night once you have kids, it just doesn't have to be every night.

Hair, I use water and shear butter mostly. I occasionally use other products to make life easier but I can't vouch for them.

Super Mummies, well done o!

Please Mums with 8 month old babies:

1. how did you get them to sleep all night? When will this vigil end biko?

2. Apart from their regular Cereals, fruit purees and rice puddings from Cow & Gate, what other nutritious (inexpensive) foods do you offer? My DD self-weaned already.

3. Also, what good hair products do you recommend for healthy hair growth?

At this age, she is ravenous... putting everything in sight in her mouth!

Good day Ladies...awesome job you have all been doing sharing from your diverse experiences. I have been silently following the blog and learning. Thank you

My baby recently turned 8months and self-weaned on the same day (she was EBF for 6 months). She eats well and takes tons of water.

My younger sister recently visited and we fear she (my sister) may have measles. She had been itching and she has some red spots. I intend to take her to the hospital to get treated.

But my main fear, can my baby catch it? She has been coughing with runny nose and some temperature but we used Neofylin/ Caplon as prescribed in the pharmacy and it has subsided though not completely gone.

Pls, sabi mamas (a term i learnt here), pls advice accordingly. Thank you
